BLACKS IN CLASSICS MUSEUM

The Blacks in Classics Museum will be located in the top floor of the Living Water Center. Our opening of our first exhibit will be on Juneteenth 2022. The first exhibit will feature those who connected to classics from ancient times until American captivity. The purpose of the Blacks in Classics Museum is to tell the story of the Black Intellectual Tradition, where the story of Black people in America, is told through their engagement with the works of the Western Canon, from ancient times and beyond. Key figures in Black liberation movements and Black history overall, were greatly influenced by reading from classic texts. This museum will unveil that story. The original artwork in the museum is by classically trained artist Vanessa Withun. http://www.vanessawithun.com.
