The Living Water Center offers one of the most unique K-12 schools you will ever encounter. The Living Water School is Christian online school that offers in-person activities such as athletics, graduation ceremony, prom, and holiday celebrations for those in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area or willing to travel. In fact, last year the school fielded a highly competitive basketball team. The curriculum is based on Classical education, which fosters a love for learning in students, yet the school also employ elements of Charlotte Mason and Sudbury. The school’s emphasis on adjusting instruction to the child’s abilities and interests along with giving them a voice in school decisions is based on the Sudbury model.
The Head of School is Dr. Anika Prather, who is one of the leading voices on Classical education, particularly with diverse populations. Schools across the nation seek her input into their curriculum. The Living Water School is fortunate to have her expertise and passion for education at its disposal.
Here are additional benefits that the Living Water School offers its students:
- Small class sizes. The student/teacher ratio is around 6:1
- Affordable tuition. Our tuition is at least half the cost of most private schools, yet our program is just as rigorous.
- Fostering community among students and parents is a core area of focus for the school. In 2024, our parents’ rated us very high on the school’s ability to create a sense of community.
- Students work at their own pace. Students can complete all courses early and graduate one or two years early. Students that struggle in academics can complete course work in a stress free and supportive environment.
- Students participate and design online interest groups (i.e. theatre club, art club, dance club, pokemon club, cooking club, and much more)
- Morning and afternoon prayer and devotions
- Independent reading program
- Literature Seminar (a virtual book/literature club where students and staff read and discuss various excerpts of classic and contemporary literature)
- Students are given educational credit for extracurricular activities they engage in outside of school time.
- Students engage in hiking and nature study activities independently on Fridays in whatever state they are located.
- This program is offered to any students within the United States.
- Our home base is in Northern VA but students from any state are welcome to enroll in our school.
- Accredited by Middle States
The students’ online experience is monitored by our staff and documented through the students’ online portfolio and weekly report. Each student is assigned a mentor, which is a staff member who will help to guide their online learning experience and help to keep them accountable.

We are also piloting a college called Cooper College. The college offers asynchronous instruction via virtual sessions and occasional in person sessions using seminar/discussion style. All certificates and degrees are in Classical Christian Studies. Students and faculty work through various classically inspired and ancient/older texts from diverse authors. Students and faculty also read Biblical texts, in order to find meaning in the Holy Scriptures and to connect this understanding to daily living so that they may be equipped to impact the world from a deeply intellectual and spiritually grounded perspective. Cooper College is a religious institution exempt from state regulation and oversight in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
