Dr. Prather has published the book The Black Intellectual Tradition, co-authored with Dr. Angel Adams-Parham, which gives a historical and philosophical perspective on the Black Intellectual Tradition and its history in America from 1619 to modern times.

Dr. Prather has also self-published her dissertation, Living in the Constellation of the Canon, which tells of her journey to engage African American students with classic texts through Socratic dialogue. She tells the history of the classics in the educational journey of African Americans and how that history impacts her students desire to read from the Classical Tradition. In addition she invites the reader to take the step towards bringing the African American story into conversation with classic literature.
